Making Wishes Come True - One Stitch at a Time

My youngest loves animals and has a collection of stuffed ones to rival any toy store. I'm not just talking about the usual suspects.  This kid is one of those who goes to the zoo gift shop and comes out with a stuffed vulture.  A VULTURE!  *shudder* (There was no talking him out of it - believe me, I tried.) So, I wasn't really that surprised when he announced that his collection needed a vampire squid.  Have you ever seen a vampire squid? Now, I've made my share of stuffed animals but a vampire squid?  I immediately turned to my...

While the Little One is Still Young

I can't even count the number of wonderful sewing tutorials I have squirreled away, planning to make them for my kids, only to have the kids outgrow the project before I even started it.  When my youngest celebrated yet another birthday, I knew I was running out of time for all the cute stuffed animal accessories I want to make.  So, I finally attempted the carrycot tutorial I had been saving. I made mine in flannel with fabrics from the It's a Jungle In Here collection from Henry Glass.  The line has a great print with all the jungle animals...

Warm Buns for Christmas - Size Does Matter

This year, my family is going to have a Holly Jolly Christmas.  I decided on an elf theme for our decorations so Dan Morris' Holly Jolly is featuring heavily in my holiday sewing. Over the last couple of weeks, in between the kids' school projects and making up the teachers' gifts, I managed to sew up some dining room valances and curtains and a table cloth. With the essentials done, I turned my focus to the little extra touches.  I decided that this year I would like a real cloth for my roll basket instead of the paper napkin I usually...

To Buy or Not to Buy - Folded Fabric Christmas Tree Pattern Comparison

A while back, I came across a pattern from OliVen on Craftsy that I absolutely loved.  It was for a Christmas tree wall hanging.  I thought that they would make terrific Christmas gifts.   Now, I have to admit that I don't actually purchase patterns too often.  It's not that I am cheap, per se.  And it is certainly not because I think, "Oh, I can just figure this out on my own."  It's just that I have so many patterns and tutorials that I have collected that I hate spending money on something that I may never use.  But,...
